July 10: Le Bourget-du-Lac to Seyssel

We both woke up feeling pretty rough after yesterday’s surprisingly difficult ride to watch the Tour. We decided to sleep in a bit and then bike for as long as we could, which ended up being only 45km.

We biked around Lake Bourget, which was nice, and met up with the Rhone River route (Via Rhona) to the north. It being 1) lunch and 2) a Monday, we had an impossible time finding any hotels or campsites which were open. Luckily a campground in Seyssel was open so we stopped there for the evening. It’s a great midsized town along the Rhone, and ran into 3-4 other touring cyclists at the same campground.

About 30 minutes after we stopped, a massive thunderstorm rolled in and it stormed for the remainder of the afternoon and evening. Good thing we pulled over when we did!
