We continued along the Loire a Velo bike path, though today followed more of the Briare canal than the Loire river itself. We had 100km into Nevers. The ride featured terrific tree-lined paths along the canal, a major sheep jam (must-see video here), and a significant bike malfunction featuring Old Glory (Caitlin’s bike). As you’ll see in the last couple of picture below, the metal piece holding the top of Caitlin’s rear rack to the bike sheered off, causing her panniers to fall to the ground. Luckily, we weren’t going that fast and we only had 15km to go until Nevers. Caitlin found some gear ties and zip ties and managed to re-fashion the rack back to her bike. It was a bit wobbly but pretty secure.
We made it to Nevers fine and decided to take a rest day to fix the bike and take care of some health-related issues.* Fun cliff-hanger until the next post! Stay tuned!
*(Small spoiler: everyone is now fine)

We will be driving down past you in three weeks but are heading to Portugal in a 2cv! If you get a chance to visit Carcassonne, it’s amazing! My favourite French place in fact all of pays l’oc. Xxx
